Seine Formel E=mc² wurde weltberühmt und das Foto mit der herausgestreckten Zunge zu seinem späten Markenzeichen. Als 25-jähriger Physiker war Albert Einstein (1879-1955) jedoch in der Fachwelt noch gänzlich unbekannt. Doch mit seinen umwälzenden Theorien – allen voran der Relativitätstheorie – schuf er die Grundlagen für die moderne Forschung. Einstein machte aber nicht nur als hochintelligenter Naturwissenschaftler von sich reden, er setzte sich auch konsequent für Menschenrechte, Abrüstung und Friedenspolitik ein. 1921 mit dem Nobelpreis geehrt, gilt Einstein zu Recht als der bedeutendste Physiker des 20. Jahrhunderts
