- Women in the world of science
Annotation
Ten years ago, UNESCO and L OREAL embarked upon a journey to change the face of science. The landmark "Women in Science" partnership has been a resounding success. Indeed, thanks in part to the partnership, the world is increasingly recognizing the role and significance of women in science. Of course, much work remains for women to be equally represented in science. Women still only make up one fourth of researchers and very few are in decision-making levels or determine research agendas. This is why it is so important to showcase successful women scientists through the UNESCO and L OREAL partnership and through this superb book of portraits

Annotation
Topic of this book may strike some as odd. In today world, leadership in itself has come to be seen as a human trait, not a masculine or feminine one. But it wasnt always as such. Not very long ago, it was unthinkable for a woman to be the leader of a nation or even a limited institution. In fact, they were not even given the right to vote until 1920 in America and 1918 in United Kingdom. In UK, the age for women eligible to vote was not lowered to 21 until 1928. Women emancipation was achieved after a long and hard battle and even today they continue to struggle to attain equal rights as men

Annotation
This book has been in the making for half a century. It synthesizes five decades of painstaking reseach on the land, the rise and fall of kingdoms, the city centers, and finally the ideologies that led to the creation of Pakistan. Much of the evidence for this historical explanation of the rise of Pakistan has been derived from the numerous inscriptions carved painstakingly in stone or left in the form of archaeological finds and architectural testimony of our forefathers, which have been carefully investigated and documented in the twentieth century by Professor Dani and his fellow archaeologists

Annotation
Pakistan Culture constitutes an elective subject in the course of studies for foreign students at the Intermediate level. However no single book covers the prescribed syllabus. Teachers and students feel handicapped on this account and have often voiced the need for duch a comprehensive publication. This book embodies the response to this need. It atttempts in a single concise volume, to portray Pakistan rich cultural heritage which is as variegated as its geographic environments - with mountains, plains, deserts, river valleys full of natural beauty and grandeur, the Karakoram and Hindu Kush ranges in the north and the delta of the mighty Indus in south which also was the citadel of one of the earliest civilization
