Türk edebiyatının en gizemli türlerinden biri şathiyyedir. Şairlerin cem sarhoşluğuyla adeta tanrılaştığı, Tanrı ile teklifsiz konuştuğu çizgi dışı şiirler. Şathiyyelerin eşyanın mantığına aykırı, saçma (absürd) gibi görünen alaycı anlatımları vardır. Deli saçması veya çocuk tekerlemelerine benzerler.
