The Council of Islamic Ideology is a Constitutional body whose functions have been enumerated in articles 227 - 230 of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. One of these functions is to submit all its recommendations, on different issues relating to law, society and economy in the form of Annual Reports. The Council has been, regularly, submitting its Annual Reports in Urdu, ever since its inception in 1973. Recently, however, it has been decided that a brief and concise Summary of Annual Report may also be published in English. This English Summary Annual Report, for the year 2004 - 2005, is the first of this series

An endless variety of handicrafts including wood and ivory inlay, beaten brass and copper ware, enamed work, jewellery, rugs and fabrics are avaiable in almost every rook and corner of the country. From Multan come camel skin and bone products as well as textiles and ceramic tiles. Lahore is famous for its carved and inlaid wood objects, meena jewellery and hand-block fabrics.
