The Japanese colonial government, the Government-General of Korea, played a significant part in furthering the expansion program of the Japanese Empire, and moreover in the rise of Japanese militarism. Despite its importance, no one has analyzed and examined the Government-General of Korea in its entirety from 1910 to 1945. The failure of the Japanese administration was clearly manifested in 1945, when it collapsed at once upon the withdrawal of Japanese armed forces from Korea.
