Album “Terra Mariana. 1186-1888 ”is a unique cultural monument that tells the story of the spread of the Christian faith on the territory of the“ Land of the Virgin Mary ”(Terra Mariana), as the lands of medieval Livonia - modern Latvia and Estonia - were once officially called. The original edition, printed in Riga in 1888 in a single copy and presented to Pope Leo XIII as a gift in honor of the 50th anniversary of his dignity as priest, is a genuine work of book art. The folio, consisting of large-sized parchments (61 x 45 cm) and collected under the cover of fine goat leather with the Papal coat of arms with gold and silver letters, contains rich visual and textual material about castles, temples, historical personalities and the arms of old Livonia families
