In 2007, His Highness the Aga Khan celebrates his Golden Jubilee, the fiftieth anniversary of his accession to the Imamat of the world Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Today, roughly fifteen million Ismailis live in more than twenty-five countries, mainly in Asia,, Africa and the Middle East, as well as in Europe, Canada and the United States. The Imam is their spiritual guide, and in view of the importance that Islam places on maintaining a balance between the material and spiritual well-being of Muslims, the Imam guidance must deal with both aspects of the life of his community
