Der Sportverlag. In der Schachliteratur gibt es natürlich viele Grundlagenforschung zum Thema Strategie. Ähnliche methodische Darstellungen, die nach der Einbürgerung der Steinitz-Positionstheorie entstanden sind, sind für die Entwicklung eines Schachspielers ebenso notwendig wie gute Spielleitlinien am Anfang oder Ende. Wichtige historische Wahrzeichen in der methodologischen Literatur des Mittelspiels sind die Werke von Lasker, Tarrash, Nimzovic, Aves und vielen anderen bedeutenden Autoren. Die moderne Praxis ist in ihrer Größenordnung weit überlegen, selbst wenn sie erst vor wenigen Jahrzehnten stattfand, als es relativ wenige Turniere gab und die internationalen Beziehungen nur schwach entwickelt wurden. Die Zahl der Schachmeister ist deutlich gestiegen. Jedes große Turnier hinterlässt heute eine unauslöschliche Spur in der Theorie nicht nur der Eröffnung, sondern auch anderer Stadien
