Historical appraisal of the Urdu Language

Topic of this book may strike some as odd. In today world, leadership in itself has come to be seen as a human trait, not a masculine or feminine one. But it wasnt always as such. Not very long ago, it was unthinkable for a woman to be the leader of a nation or even a limited institution. In fact, they were not even given the right to vote until 1920 in America and 1918 in United Kingdom. In UK, the age for women eligible to vote was not lowered to 21 until 1928. Women emancipation was achieved after a long and hard battle and even today they continue to struggle to attain equal rights as men

Barrages are major river structures. During the last century there has been a marked increase in research activities all over the world including South Asian sub-continent in developing theories and practices concerning design and construction of river structures on permeable foundations. In South Asia a large number of barrages have been successfully constructed on these theories. A number of more such structures are planned. It is for this reason. The author has made an effort to present to the engineering profession a comprehensive work which is indeed a compendium of modern practice of planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of barrages in sufficient detail
