Korean food has been appraised as a genuine, slow, healthy food for its organization with the seasons and regional specialties, harmony of food ingredients and combination of food groups. As part of the project "Research and Development Project for Standardization of Korean Cuisine," this book is designed to standardize the recipes of the selected 100 Korean foods by using the international system of units (SI unit) and to present the pleasure of cooking healthy Korean food easily for everyone around the world. It also gives useful tips, such as serving temperature, total cooking time and suggested utensils, nutritional information per serving, along with specific instructions for preparing ingredients and cooking.

The book consists of seven chapters -- appetizers & entrees, soups & salads, meat, seafood, rice & noodles, kimchi and dessert. About 70 kinds of foods including ordinary foods such as "bibimbap" (rice mixed with vegetables) and "bulgogi" (Korean-style barbecued beef) and traditional foods such as "sinseonro" (royal casserole) and "maejakgwa" (fried honey ginger cookies) are compiled along with colorful photos taken herself.

In this gorgeous, well-executed, and beautifully photographed cookbook, you will learn about the basic ingredients and the flavors and spices used in Korean foods. Ms. Kim also includes sample menus and serving suggestions. This cookbook will enable you to prepare authentic Korean cuisine at home. Short sections also add some serving and etiquette tips. After seeing Ms. Kim live, it is clear that her vast knowledge and considerable charm would only have improved this book had more of it been included. It’s a small quibble, and shouldn’t prevent anyone from purchasing this book. If you get a chance to take a class with her, take it!
