The network of museums in Italy is the result of the Napoleonic laws that closed convents, and the outline given to Italian art history by Vasari and codified in the Eighteenth century by the Abbot Luigi lanzi. This book ends with two fundamental national museums that document the development of painting in Italy from the Thirteenth century ti the beginning of the nineteenth: the brera Gallery and the Accademy Galleries in Venice.
