On February 27, 2020 in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan city, was opened a reading hall «Otandastar». This event took place by the initiative of non-profit joint-stock company «Otandastar Foundation» and the World Association of Kazakhs.
Famous statesman and public figure Myrzatai Zholdasbekov brought his own works, such as «The Great Steppe Literature», «The Book of Korkyt Ata» and other works to the «Otandastar» and expressed his appreciation and kindness during the event.
Representatives of the intellectual community, such as the well-known writer State Prize Laureate Alibek Askar, the famous writer Sultan Orazalin, the turkologist-scientist Karzhaubay Sartkozhauly also presented their books and shared with their thoughts.
The «Otandastar» Reading Hall has advantages such as the bookshelves where the works of scholars from around the world will be displayed. For example, there will be collected the works of ethnic Kazakhs inhabiting China, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and other countries.
Today the number of publications and valuable documents that holds the National Library's catalog has exceeded 2,000 and over 2,500 books have been distributed to Kazakh national cultural centers abroad.
It is planned to digitize many books on the technical platform of the National Electronic Library of Kazakhstan, these books were collected by our compatriots in Russia, China, Mongolia, Turkey, USA, Iran and valuable books from «Otandastar Foundation». This innovative step will allow our compatriots to read their favorite books anywhere in the world.
