Rare Books

Formation of the collection of rare books in National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan has begun in 2005. Today the library has interesting books, that consist of 719 names of rare books and manuscripts both in printed and in electronic kinds.

These received gifts are unique manuscripts and books from Germany from the known figure and the researcher of a life of Kazakh people abroad - Khasan Oraltay. He has presented to library 429 copies of books and manuscripts published in different years. Among them, 261 works concern to rare editions.

In the year of opening of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (27.04.2005) it has received gift - the rare copy of the book of Schiller " Earl Gabriel fon Pleteinberg ", published in 1879 in Stuttgart (Germany) from known public figure Shalakhmetova G.M.

Special attention is given to the literary and art collection devoted to 50th anniversary of I.D.Sytin's publishing activity - " half a century for the book ", published by the Moscow printing house in 1916.
