Info-Resources“Book Treasure for Astana” Collection of the library has been forming since 2004. It started with Action “Book Treasure for Astana”. Issuing a call over the country we attracted attention and strong support of many people. Everybody wanted to contribute to forming of a unique library's collection. Invaluable copies were presented to the library by the National Library of RK, Almaty, Presidential Centre of Culture RK, publishing houses, higher educational institutions, scientists, political figures, deputies, and private individuals. Embassies of Russia, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, Ukraine, Georgia, India and other countries contributed too. Today, collections of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan number more than 600 thousand copies, and are universal by content. They include books, periodicals, electronic and other materials produced both in Kazakhstan and various countries in the world in more than 50 languages. Scientific nature, universality, completeness, topicality, efficiency, accessibility are principles of collection forming. Priority of collection forming is information about Kazakhstan, its achievements, nature, geography, industry, society, culture and etc. Forming of NABRK electronic resources is based on creating its own electronic collections and data bases, acquiring access to remote data bases and electronic catalogues, using on-line resources as a part of NABRK collection. We provide our users with electronic editions of dictionaries, text books, books, encyclopedias in different knowledge fields on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM, electronic versions of periodicals, electronic editions for studying state and foreign languages; electronic libraries and catalogues of the world biggest information centres, interactive training courses and many others. Collection structure by kinds and types of publications:
Total number of printed publications is about 600 thousand units. Subscription to periodicals in the first half year 2010 is 927 names of Kazakhstani, Russian, and foreign newspapers and journals/magazines. |
