About the project

Purposes of the project:

· To provide access to information for experts of Kazakhstan oil-and-gas complexes; state, educational and other establishments, organizations, institutes interested in scientifically - technical progress development of oil-and-gas complex as major factor of development of the country

· To aspire to creation of modern reference model of library-information service of readers.

  Tasks:

· To generate information resources on oil and gas in printed and electronic forms;

· To provide subscription to periodicals on oil and gas of Kazakhstan, Russian and foreign;

· To grant access to full-text removed databases on oil and gas, economy and law;

· To work on creation of own databases;

· To use new electronic informational and bibliographic;

· To establish cooperation with profile organizations;

· To become center of information on oil and gas for public libraries of MCI (Ministry of culture and information) system.

Description of the project:

In electronic reading hall of oil and gas the newest scientific both reference books and periodicals in Russian, Kazakh, English languages on drilling and development of oil and gas wells; processing and transporting technologies of oil and gas,; machines and devices of chemical manufactures; ecology, protection of labour and industrial safety; economy, finance, accounting; automation, electronics, electric power industry, electrical engineer, etc., are available.

The opportunity of access to removed full-text and bibliographic databases Elsevier, Euromonitor, Wiley, Gale Thompson, VINITI, " Oil and Gas " Electronic library and others, is given to readers of this hall. Electronic delivery of documents from funds of largest libraries and institutes VINITI, RGB, State Public Scientific Technical Library, RNTB, INION, BEN, BAN, etc.

Electronic reading hall of oil and gas is connected to uniform local network of NABRK and is included in library system of automation which allows keeping account in electronic form, cataloguing, search and delivery of the literature. On the basis of Electronic catalogue the separate database " Oil and Gas " where you may find all resources on selected topic, will be created.

The electronic reading hall is equipped with modern computer technics, library furniture which create comfortable conditions for readers and librarians. For reading electronic books special electronic devices of E-Readers type will be stipulated, each automated workplace of the reader will be equipped with machine translators from Kazakh, English and other languages. Electronic reading hall of oil and gas will be an experimental platform for introduction and approbation of the newest computer development, information technologies, automation and modernization of library business-processes.

Stability and prospects of the project

For today the oil-and-gas branch develops in many regions of Kazakhstan, as in traditional areas such as Atirau, and in new regions in the north, east and south of Kazakhstan. Hence demand for the information of the given subjects will grow. According to our data, number of inquires on this theme from readers is growing in the regional libraries which before didn't specialized on formation of the literature on oil-and-gas topics. Our hall will be center of information on such topics for regional libraries. By inquiries of readers in regions, electronic delivery of documents, fragments of books, periodicals will be organized.

Besides Electronic reading hall of oil and gas will be base for training of librarians from Atirau, Pavlodar, Kyzil-orda, Aktyubinsk, Mangistau oblast universal public libraries.

Also, with the purpose of development of Electronic reading hall of oil and gas, partner mutual relations with Scientific library of the Kazakhstan national technical university named after Satpayev and Institute of oil and gas in Aktau will be adjusted., On the basis of work experience of the given organizations with the information on oil and gas, there will be an opportunity to develop joint information projects.

Employees of this hall will carry out information seminars, trainings, Days of the information for experts of this branch on themes " Search in specialized databases ", " the Internet - resources on oil and gas ", " Professional information search in Internet ", etc. Thematic book exhibitions, information stands will be organized in Electronic reading hall of oil and gas.

The electronic reading hall of Oil and Gaza will be methodological center of the information on oil and gas for all libraries of MCI RK system; will develop methodical recommendations for librarians in working with the special literature; will give consultation both in real and remote forms.
