The opening of the India study center took place on 10th February of 2006. Main purposes of this event were: rapproachement of people of two friendly states, strengthening of cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and Kazakhstan. The center carries out a problem of Indian culture distribution, literature and as a whole popularization of knowledge about India by means of books, periodicals, documentary films, audio-video materials in Hindy, Kazakh, Russian and English languages.

India can be named museum of religions. On the land of India there are four world religions: Induism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam. Two religions were born in India, as well as Jainism, Sikhism and other small cults and religious sects. Acquaintance with religions of India gives surprising sensation of beauty and variety of cultural life of Indians. The opportunity to make acquaintance with religions of India is given in our Center. One of the most valuable books of our hall is " The Encyclopedia of the Ayurveda " which contains main principles, methods and practice of the earliest school of medicine. The Yoga discipline develops the person in physical, intellectual and spiritual spheres. Books that will help you in study of Yoga: " Lessons for persons studying yoga " of Vidya Sagar Verma – former ambassador of India in Kazakhstan, " Seven steps of self-realization " of Shri Paramakhansa Yogananda, " Eight lectures on Yoga " of Alister Krouli- one of the first Europeans that studied and practiced Yoga, etc. Owing to " East philosophy " of doctor Dzhejja Stevenson you will acquire main principles of each of philosophical doctrines of the East, from works of known Indian philosopher S.Radhakrishnana you will learn all subtleties of the Indian philosophy that will allow to make east wisdom an integral part of your daily life. Besides there is a lot of materials about life and creativity of the well-known artist, humanist, public figure, writer, teacher, scientist K.N.Rerih, the author of Rerikh Pact - document which became the first international legal contract, specially devoted to protection of cultural values. It is necessary to note presence of one of the most significant esoterical doctrines of the present – Doctrine of Agni Yoga, or Alive Ethics, transferred by spiritual Teachers of Shambhala. and N.K.Roerich. One of the most mysterious and most interesting products of our hall is series of books " the Secret doctrine " of Elena Blavatskaya-great theosoph, philosopher and mysticist of second half of XIX century.

Our book fund have rare books, such are: the oldest book of mankind library - Rigveda (1500-1000 b.c.), the greatest Indian epos "Mahabharata" in which morally-ethical standard are formulated, hitherto influencing on a daily life of millions of Indians, writing " Rama's sea of feats " of Tulsidasa, outstanding writer of sagun-bhakti current of the Indian literature, collating of materials about relations between India and Kazakhstan.

The India study center has excellent book collection about external and internal policy of India. The most remarkable are: the book of the president of India Abdul Kalam Azad written in co-authorship with Sivatkhanu Pillai " Envisioning an empowered nation. Technology for societal transformation ", " Documents on international relations of India -2004 " under edition of Avatar Sinkh Bkhasin, "India-2020", etc.

The special place in our hall take books devoted to outstanding persons of India: Dzhavaharlalu Nehru-first prime minister of independent India, Mahatma Ghandi-acknowledged leader of national-liberation movement, Indira Ghandi, Radjivu Ghandi, etc.

More than 17 channels of the Indian TV broadcast in our center, including the national 

channel of India. The rich record library will allow you to make an acquaintance with writings of such famous musicians of India as Zakir 

Hussein, Ravi Shankar, Amdjad Ali Khan, etc. there is a lot of freshest and interesting information about India in internet. The catalogue of the most informative sites on tourism, policy, economy, education, culture, history, philosophies of India is under construction.

From the date of the opening, India study center is engaged in multilateral cultural activity. The center became the main place of attraction of Kazakhstan girls and young men, wishing to study a state language of India - hindy in Astana. The club of fans of the Indian cinema where last novelties of Bollywood are shown, and also an exhibition of subjects of Indian art are functioning under our center.

In the future the Center together with NABRK plans carrying out seminars and conferences with participation of researchers, scientists and thinkers from India.
