On December 11, 2009, opening of Information Center took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NABRK). NABRK opened the Center together with the National Library of Korea and Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Creators called their project “Window on Korea”.
The Center is located in the World Literature Reading Room, NABRK. The National Library of Korea granted more than 500 books, CDs and DVDs, computer, TV set, DVD recorder, projector.
Information Center “Window on Korea” is supposed to be a public information resource about dynamically developing Korea and its educational possibilities. Reader can use various literatures, see films, listen to music, and read books for obtaining necessary data in the Information Center as in the whole library.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan Mr. Lee Byon-Hwa, Deputy Director General of NABRK Mr. Usenbayev Zh.B., Director of Library of Service Department, the National Library of Korea, Mr. Shin Hyun Tai, worker of Serials and Policy Information Division, the National Library of Korea, Mr. Kang Ji-Tae, Director of the Korean Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Han Song Rae participated in the opening ceremony.
India Study Center, Library Center of Goethe Institute, Development Information Center established by support of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and UN Development Programme function in NABRK. Owing to these information resources, readers acquaint with history, rich traditions and modern development of Kazakhstan and friendly states. Establishment of Information Center “Window on Korea” will also promote cultural approach of nations.
