Finnish Scientists Make the Acquaintance of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan Activity

On 2 September, 2009, meeting of representatives of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan with scientists headed by Arto Pekka Luukkanen, director on research of processes in Russia and Eastern Europe, Helsinki University, took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Meeting was devoted to the issue of preparing unique book about Kazakhstan in Finland.

The meeting was initiated by Finnish scientists to get acquainted with Kazakhstan's achievements in the area of intercultural dialogue, Kazakhstani model of interethnic tolerance and activity of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan as an institution of civil society which ensures interaction of all nations in the republic.

The following representatives of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan participated in the meeting: Khochieva L.H., Deputy of the Mazhilis of RK Parliament, Shanai N.I., Inspector of the Secretariat, Kalashnikova N.P., consultant of the Secretariat, Doctor of Political Science, Rakisheva B.I., Editor-in-chief of the journal “Menin Elim”.

At the constructive dialogue, the Finnish delegation got acquainted with creation history, tasks and work of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan, its interaction with OSCE structures within international cooperation. Depository of the Assembly of the Nations of Kazakhstan opened in January, 2009, in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and documentary “Kazakhstan Is My Heart” about the Assembly's activity were shown to the guests.
