On August, 23-27, 2009 the World library and information congress will take place In Milan (Italy): 75th General conference and IFLA council. The Congress theme «Libraries: erection of the future on the basis of a cultural heritage».
The Milan prepares for a meeting of representatives of a library profession. As noted in invitation card on behalf of National Committee Mauro Guerrini, the President of the Italian Library Association, the President of Italian National Committee IFLA-2009 in Milan – “Milan, all Lombardy and Italy will make all from them depending to provide to participants of the Congress warm reception and to show the fine libraries, both ancient, and modern, and also masterpieces of art, music, a fashion, design, a landscape, kitchen and winemaking – a word, all our country, all things which make our country famous. Letitsija Moratti, the mayor of Milan has addressed with kindliness to participants of a forthcoming library forum. The given choice gives the chance to Italy and Milan, in particular, to be in the centre of the international discussion of questions on a condition of a modern library science all over the world, - is told in a greeting, - today libraries represent a part of I-net, they promote information interchange and enrichment by knowledge at unknown level. The information is capable to create values of the new sample, providing with that higher quality of a life. The saved up knowledge gives the chance to realize new cultural projects, establishing connection between world around and constantly varying way of life and thinking of the person ».
The world library and information congress: 75 General conference and IFLA council will take place in the Congress-centre of Milan fair (MIC). Here will pass the International library trading exhibition and there will be presented the wide choice of production of the international and national suppliers. Simultaneous interpretation on the Congress will be carried out on seven foreign languages: English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese (tangerine) and Arabian. Forum opening ceremony represents performance about traditions and stories of Italy. During the Congress it's planned visiting of libraries of Italy, among which National library Braidense (Milan), Public library "Antonio Tiraboski" (Bergamo), library of Milan State University, Children's library in Roptsano etc.
