The First Meeting of young librarians of Kazakhstan May 22-23 2008

Through libraries - to the future of the country

The first Republican Meeting of young librarians of Kazakhstan will take place in May of the 2008 in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Organizers of the forum are the Ministry of culture and information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Library association of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main aims of the forum are - fastening of young experts in libraries of Kazakhstan, strengthening of positive image of a library profession, revealing the most perspective staff with the purpose of assistance in career promotion of the most capable experts, recommendation for studying in the best universities of the world.

During the work of the Meeting, wide discussion of the project "Concepts of support of young librarians of Kazakhstan on 2009-2011", and also problems of modern personnel policy in modern librarian profession will take place.

Hundred delegates of the Meeting from all regions of Kazakhstan have been already chosen. All of them are young experts of regional, district and country libraries. The right to be participants of the Meeting they have received owing to aspiration for a professional knowledge, creative approach to their work, creation of interesting projects, and active life position.

Deputies of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; representatives of President ‘s Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of culture and information of the republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Education and sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, famous people of Kazakhstan and politicians, writers, scientists, journalists, representatives of library Association of the republic of Kazakhstan - directors of regional libraries, and also workers of sphere of culture and education – all of them will take part in the Meeting.

Among foreign visitors of the forum are eminent theorists and practicians of library business of Slovakia and Russia - the President of Slovak Association of librarians Silviya Staselova, director of the State public historical library of Russia of Afanasyev M.D. and chairman of section of the Russian library association " Young in library business ", the editor-in-chief of the Moscow magazine " Young in library business " Makarenko T.S.

The significant attention in work of the Meeting is given to an experience exchange and professional dialogue of young librarians. With this purpose the exhibition “New format of libraries” will take place in National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There will be presented 16 pavilions, which open up-to-date directions of library's activities. Also there will be rewarding of winners of competition of library works which we have declared in the last year with the purpose of revealing and encouragement of perspective experts in the state libraries of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the program of the Meeting creative meetings and excursions "Librarian Astana ", "Astana - Heart of Kazakhstan", " the Drop of ocean in Astana ", " the Cultural text of Astana " will take place. Delegates and guests will visit Parliamentary library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, library of the Presidential Center of culture, Centralized librarian system of Astana and scientific center “Otyrar kitapkhanasy” of the Eurasian national university named after L.N.Gumilev.

To the Meeting of young librarians of Kazakhstan directory ”100 young in library business of Kazakhstan", and also special editions of Kazakhstan magazine “Kitapkhana” and Moscow magazine " Young in library business " will be prepared.

So The National Academic Library and also all libraries of the country are preparing to such serious, important and interesting forum. By the way, the organizing committee of a forum includes young experts of the National Academic library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. They try and worry, how this all will pass? But we hope - the Meeting takes place and will be successful. Work of the Forum will promote stimulation of creative activity of young generation and a rising of the social status and prestige of a library profession!
